Betty then took the position of Church secretary at Pecos First United Methodist Church. She was April 12, 1916, in Midland, in to a pioneer West Texas ranching family, grew up in Odessa, after graduating from Odessa High School, attended CIA, now Texas Womans University in Denton, joined the United States Navy as a WAVE and served honorably at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station during World War II, following her navy service she worked briefly in Pennsylvania; then she returned home to Odessa to work for the Ector County School System. He was born June 13, 1931, in Columbus, Ohio, to Herman Pery and Floy Hendrix. Mrs. Briones enjoyed spending time cooking, gardening and sewing.
